The Five Principles
At least for today:
Do not be angry, Do not worry, Be grateful, Work with diligence, Be kind to people.
Every morning and evening, join your hands in meditation and pray with your heart. State in your mind and chant with your mouth.
Reiki is a healing practice that originated in Japan. Reiki practitioners place their hands lightly on or just above the person receiving treatment, with the goal of facilitating the person's own healing response. In the United States, Reiki is part of complementary and alternative medicine.
The system of Reiki was invented and developed by a man named Mikao Usui inthe early 1900's. Mikao Usui trained a number of teachers in this system. Many of those teachers taught students of their own. There are many lines of Reiki practiced in Japan from these teachers. Usui founded a school there that is said to maintain his original teachings. This school is called the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai.

A Magical Community of Knowledge There are two main branches of Reiki, commonly referred to as Traditional Japanese Reiki and Western Reiki. Within both Traditional and Westernised forms of Reiki, there are three forms of degrees, commonly referred to as the First, Second, and Master/Teacher degree. According to Reiki practitioners and Masters, at First Degree, a Reiki practitioner is able to heal themselves and others, at Second Degree is able to heal others distantly (commonly called distant healing) with the use of specialised symbols, and at Master/Teacher level is able to teach and attune others to Reiki.
The word "Reiki" is derived from two Japanese words: rei, or universal, and ki, or life energy. Current Reiki practice can be traced to the spiritual teachings of Mikao Usui in Japan during the early 20th century. Usui's teachings included meditative techniques and healing practices. One of Usui's students, Chujiro Hayashi, further developed the healing practices, placing less emphasis on the meditative techniques. An American named Hawayo Takata learned Reiki from Hayashi in Japan and introduced it to Western cultures in the late 1930s.
In a Reiki session, the client lies down or sits comfortably, fully clothed. The practitioner's hands are placed lightly on or just above the client's body, palms down, using a series of 12 to 15 different hand positions. Each position is held for about 2 to 5 minutes, or until the practitioner feels that the flow of energy—experienced as sensations such as heat or tingling in the hands—has slowed or stopped.
Recipients may experience a deep state of relaxation during a Reiki session. They might also feel warm, tingly, sleepy, or refreshed.
The type of Reiki practiced and taught by Hayashi and Takata may be considered traditional Reiki. Numerous variations (or schools) of Reiki have since been developed and are currently practiced.
Reiki is based on the idea that there is a universal (or source) energy that supports the body's innate healing abilities. Practitioners seek to access this energy, allowing it to flow to the body and facilitate healing.
Although generally practiced as a form of self-care, Reiki can be received from someone else and may be offered in a variety of health care settings, including medical offices, hospitals, and clinics. It can be practiced on its own or along with other therapies or conventional medical treatments.

Each position is held for about 2 to 5 minutes, or until the practitioner feels that the flow of energy—experienced as sensations such as heat or tingling in the hands—has slowed or stopped. The number of sessions depends on the health needs of the client. Typically, the practitioner delivers at least four sessions of 30 to 90 minutes each. The duration of Reiki sessions may be shorter in certain health care settings (for example, during surgery).
Practitioners with appropriate training may perform Reiki from a distance, that is, on clients who are not physically present in the office or clinic.
According to the 2007 National Health Interview Survey, which included a comprehensive survey of CAM use by Americans, more than 1.2 million adults had used an energy healing therapy, such as Reiki, in the previous year. The survey also found that approximately 161,000 children had used an energy healing therapy in the previous year.
People use Reiki for relaxation, stress reduction, and symptom relief, in efforts to improve overall health and well-being. Reiki has been used by people with anxiety, chronic pain, HIV/AIDS, and other health conditions, as well as by people recovering from surgery or experiencing side effects from cancer treatments. Reiki has also been given to people who are dying (and to their families and caregivers) to help impart a sense of peace.

Reiki appears to be generally safe, and no serious side effects have been reported.
No special background or credentials are needed to receive training. However, Reiki must be learned from an experienced teacher or a Master; it cannot be self-taught. The specific techniques taught can vary greatly.
Training in traditional Reiki has three degrees (levels), each focusing on a different aspect of practice. Each degree includes one or more initiations. Receiving an initiation is believed to activate the ability to access Reiki energy. Training for first- and second-degree practice is typically given in 8 to 12 class hours over about 2 days. In first-degree training, students learn to perform Reiki on themselves and on others. In second-degree training, students learn to perform Reiki on others from a distance. Some students seek master-level (third-degree) training. A Reiki Master can teach and initiate students. Becoming a Master can take years.
There are many benefits to learning and practicing Reiki. At its most simple level, Reiki is an effective way to bring mind, body and spirit into unison. Reiki helps to increase the body's ability to heal itself. It seems to bring about a balance in the body's organs and re-establish harmony in the system. Reiki helps balance the energy in the body, and loosens up blocked energy. Reiki can enhance all other forms of healing. It can relieve pain. Reiki can also help to relieve ailments such as head aches, stress, anxiety, fear, colds and the flu.
Reiki practitioners' training and expertise vary. Increasingly, many people who seek training are licensed health care professionals. However, no licensing or professional standards exist for the practice of Reiki.
HOPI PROPHECY
"When the earth is dying there shall arise a new tribe of all colors and all creeds. This tribe shall be called The Warriors of the Rainbow and it will put its faith in actions not words."
- Prophecy of the Native American Hopi people
A Hopi Elder Speaks
You have been telling the People that this is the Eleventh Hour. Now you must go back and tell the people that THIS is The Hour.
There are things to be considered…. Where are you living? What are you doing? What are your relationships? Are you in the right relation? Where is your water?
Know your Garden. It is time to speak the truth. Create your community. Be good to each other.
And do not look outside of yourself for the leader.
Then he clasped his hands together, smiled and said,
This could be a good time. There is a river flowing now very fast. It is so great and swift that there will be those who are afraid. They will try to hold on to the shore. They will feel that they are being torn apart and will suffer greatly.
Know the river has its destination. The Elders say, “We must let go of the shore. Push off into the middle of the river, keep our eyes open and our heads above the water.’ And we say, “See who is there with you and celebrate.”
At this time in history must take nothing personally. Least of all ourselves. For the moment that we do, our spiritual growth and journey come to a halt. The time of the lone wolf is over. Gather yourselves. Banish the word “struggle” from your attitude and vocabulary. All that we do now must be done in sacred manner and in celebration.
We are the ones we have been waiting for.

Our Toxic Environment
Many of the chronic mental and physical health conditions we see in society today are the result of our toxic environment.
Studies of the significant causes and processes involved in the development of mental and psychical illness have found that there are not only physical, social, and psychological causes for these conditions, but now it is becoming known that various pollutants and toxins have a environmental impact as well.
For nearly two-thirds of a century, up to 99% of the ingredients in any given pesticide product has legally been hidden from public view, even though many are known to be toxic.
Our soil is now contaminated with pesticides, herbicides, lead, industrial pollutants, fertilizers and heavy metals. Our water is also contaminated with pesticides, herbicides, lead, leaching of wastes from landfills, direct discharge of industrial pollutants, fertilizers, pharmaceutical drugs, These toxic substances make it into our food supply and then into our bodies through consumption. Food that is less nutritious and poisoned leads to many chronic mental and physical disorders, conditions and disease.
Naphtha for example is sometimes used in hand-soap and detergents. It is claimed that it is a central nervous system depressant and a neuro-toxin, which can cause headaches, lack of concentration, confusion, and symptoms of mental illness.
Only three percent of the carcinogens known to cause cancer are known and registered. Cancer is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to health effects of chronic low-level exposure to neuro-toxin poisons.
Air pollution leads to numerous health conditions such as asthma and other respiratory problems, cancer, cardiovascular disease and many more.
